We begin our tour with a visit to the “Dehesa Don Bosco”, a "theme park" unique in the world, which will explain us the Mediterranean “dehesa” landscape and the world of the so called “toro bravo”, the Spanish bull living in half freedom. Behind the bullfights – which you can approve or strongly combat – exists a whole world deeply rooted in the Andalusian culture, dedicated with great enthusiasm and deep love to the bull and the horse of pure Spanish race, their upbringing, their daily care, their training and their development from birth and throughout their growing years. It is a world with its own history, its customs and even its own vocabulary, marked by a total commitment that knows no holidays or days off and has as only protagonists the animals. In the “Dehesa Don Bosco” we see a typical Mediterranean “dehesa” – a man-made landscape, which is based on three main aspects, fully intertwined: forest and wild nature, agricultural labours and meadows. During our visit we will know all the characteristics of the “dehesa” landscape, observing its typical wild fauna and flora and learning everything about its cultural and ethnographic aspects. Discover the secrets of the lime production at the ruins of an historic lime oven, which still exist on the farm and hear the story of the Galician people of the area and their cairns of stones that mark the landscape silhouette of a part of the “Don Bosco” farm, before meeting with the undisputed king of this landscape - with the famous Spanish bull. We can observe at very short distance all the different phases of the breeding and selection of the bulls:
We also have the opportunity to know more about the breeding of the purebred Spanish Horse and its close link with the bulls and the city of Ronda. After our tour around the farm, we go even further into the daily work, watching the activities that are scheduled for this day. The day by day labours of this breeding farm are so diverse and numerous that it is impossible to name them all, yet we assure you unique and unknown experiences that bring you very close to these powerful, impressive and vigorous animals. Afterwards we visit a family run ecological “bodega”. The son will guide us through the property and explains us the whole process of wine production. From the first moment on the owners knew that they wanted to produce organic wines and already in the year 2003 they received the certificate, which endorse a production that protects and respects the environment. The first vintage was harvested in 2004. Since then the production and the wines were constantly developed. Today the bodega offers 6 different wines, which received several renowned national and international awards during the last years. At present the bodega owns the biggest organic vineyards of whole Andalusia (10 ha) and produces each year 60.000 bottles of wine. To finish our visit we will taste 3 wines, which will caress our palate and widen the sensuality of our senses, so we are able to capture all different tastes and aromas of fruits and woods that compose the harmony of these wines. Finally we will eat in the historic heart of the city to enjoy the rich cuisine of Ronda. We end our day with free time in the "city of dreams", as Ronda was described by the famous poet Rainer Maria Rilke. Your guide will be glad to recommend you some especially interesting monuments, sites for the best photo motifs and possible routes through the city, which will show you all its essence. Be seduced by its rural beauty, its breathtaking and rugged landscapes, its elegant mansions and its traditional charm, steeped in its close relationship with the world of bulls and horses. Around 17:00 the group meets again to return to the coast and to our different hotels or meeting points. |
